Trend of technology development in response to the regulations of IMO
In accordance with the IMO’s regulations on GHG emissions, various measures such as operation efficiency improvement, energy efficiency improvement, and low carbon fuels including LNG have been put in place for ships, and for further response to the regulations, technologies for the application of carbon-free fuel such as hydrogen and ammonia, and Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) are in development.
